Therapy for Older or Disabled Adults Navigating Change
Based in Oakland and Available Online Throughout California

This is not how you imagined your life.
So much has changed around you, and the world seems to shrink by the day.
You remember a time when you had energy, focus, and independence. You felt in rhythm with life.
You’d never have guessed that your bright and promising future would turn into this.
Everyone relies on you.
You’ve always been strong. Capable. The one who holds it together.
But lately, anxiety, depression, and the weight of just “getting through the day” have become too much.
It’s all more than you can handle on your own.
You’re in pain.
Reeling from the loss of a loved one, your autonomy, your health, or the future you planned.
You do your best to navigate the complexity of aging, but it can feel overwhelming.
No matter how hard you try to make it work, it feels like there’s always another obstacle in your way.
It’s not as if you haven’t tried.
You haven’t just been sitting around, waiting for things to get better.
You’ve talked to friends and family. Altered your sleep and diet. Did yoga, journaling, and meditation.
But despite all your best efforts, you always end up right back where you started.
Don’t give up.
Change can disrupt your identity, relationships, and day-to-day
life, but it doesn’t have to stay that way.
You deserve a place where you don’t have to explain or
minimize what you’re going through. This is that space.
You don’t have to figure this out by yourself anymore. I’m so glad you’re here.

Hi, I’m Cathy.

Cathy Swift Nagel, LCSW
I work with older and disabled adults who are navigating the messy, painful, beautiful complexity of life’s later chapters.
Here, you can slow down. Say the hard things. Grieve what’s been lost, and make sense of what’s still possible.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I offer psychotherapy that meets you exactly where you are, without judgment or assumptions.
Whether you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, chronic illness, caregiving stress, or the emotional toll of aging, we’ll work together to make things more manageable.
Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you feel more grounded, seen, and capable of moving forward – even amid difficult circumstances.
I will listen deeply, honor your lived experience, and bring both clinical skill and deep compassion to our work. You don’t need to “have it all together” to start; you’re allowed to show up exactly as you are.
Call me now, and take the next step on your healing journey today!
You’re not alone.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in evidence- based practices shaped by what matters most to you.
Reach out now, and discover how much better life can be.
